Specific points of importance, quoted from the ASP instructions:
8) PHOTO'S
- All pages with photos and captions MUST be already prepared
with captions and photo placement. DO NOT SEND CAPTIONS AND PHOTOS
expecting the editors to do page placement and sizing.
Camera-ready means you have the page all set up, ready to put in-front
of the camera, and have the page shot onto negatives. Every page
should be "camera-ready" when you send the manuscript to us.
9) MAKE SURE THAT THE TEXT AND ILLUSTRATION FIGURES FIT THE MARGINS !!
- Please make sure that the text does NOT go outside of the margins,
and that illustrations/figures are NOT BIGGER than margins allow.
- Please check to make sure ALL OVERSIZED illustrations/figures that
need to be turned sideways on the page are ORIENTED to the RIGHT.
- Please check to make sure that illustrations/figures are NOT
OVERLAPPING the RUNNING HEAD and PAGE NUMBER.
- Please check to make sure that illustration/figures are NOT
OVERLAPPING the DESCRIPTION of the figure.
- Please check illustrations/figures to verify that axis labels are
on the illustrations/figures and are NOT UPSIDE DOWN.
- When describing illustrations/figures, please be reminded that figures
will appear in black and white unless COLOR illustrations or figures
are being paid for (see below).
- If illustrations/figures are to print in black and white, they should
be submitted in black and white. Converting color illustrations /
figures to "black and white" often causes the difference in color to
be lost. For example, blue and red will look the same. YELLOW may be
undistinguishable from white so it appears completely lost.
- Illustrations/figures that have a printed legend should be submitted
in SUFFICIENT SIZE that the printed information is legible. HOWEVER,
FIGURE CAN NOT GO OVER MARGIN!
- Please keep in mind that the printer reduces the hardcopy page at 92%.
Therefore, the printed copy is 8% smaller.
- It is acceptable for authors to position "illustration/figure
DESCRIPTIONS" below or at the side of illustration/figures. However,
AUTHORS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MANIPULATE THE FONTS !
- AUTHORS ARE ALSO NOT ALLOWED TO MANIPULATE THE MARGINS !!
- THE FONT AND MARGINS MUST BE WHAT IS SET-UP IN THE MACROS.
- Since it is very EXPENSIVE to reproduce photos in color, the COSTS FOR
COLOR REPRODUCTIONS are the responsibility of the author. If authors
desire COLOR reproductions the following are APPROXIMATE COSTS which
would be NO LESS THAN: 1 => US$ 975, 2 => US$1,425, 3 => US$1,875.
10) REFERENCE STYLE
- We recommend the ApJ style.
